Country Music promoter Clay Campbell gives a helping hand to young talented performers. The # 1 music show, tourist attraction in Western Kentucky is the Kentucky Opry! In the Stars Of Tomorrow Shows the Kentucky Opry proudly presents the best of the best. Tour groups, tourists, and families come from all over to watch the talented Stars of Tomorrow Show. This show is made up of unique performers: Cloggers, fiddlers, banjo pickers, comedians, singers and musicians of all kinds were all hand picked by seasoned performer Clay Campbell to produce this show. Aaron Thompson

Aaron Thompson is a12 year old banjo picker from Olive, KY.  He is the son of Ron and Dawn Thompson.  Aaron started playing the banjo at the age of 9 and has been ‘pickin and grinnin’ ever since.  Aaron’s teacher is none other than the Ky Opry’s own Scottie Henson, who is the best at teaching “Scruggs Style” banjo.  This is Aaron’s third season with the Stars of Tomorrow and is looking forward to playing with the newly formed Stars Bluegrass Band.  Along with playing the banjo, Aaron enjoys baseball, basketball, collecting baseball cards, and is a huge UK and St. Louis Cardinals fan.  Aaron hopes you’ll come out and enjoy a "Stars of Tomorrow" show this summer!!

Logan Yandell

Logan Yandell, age 12, has been playing the mandolin from the age of 7.  He was inspired by his friend and mentor, Ricky Skaggs, while in “Mr. Ricky and Ms. Sharon’s” 1st grade Sunday School Class.  Ms. Sharon introduced the then 7 year old Logan to Grammy nominated mandolin player David Harvey. Logan is currently a student under Michael McClain at Belmont University learning music theory.  Logan was recently awarded a merit scholarship for the fall semester from Belmont University, Music Academy Department.   Logan has won or placed in several mandolin instrumental contests including the Wabash River Bluegrass Festival, Kentucky Opry Talent Search and the National Fiddlers Jamboree, in Smithville, Tennessee.  Logan also plays tenor saxophone in the Davidson Academy Band. 

Chelsea Fromm

Chelsea Fromm is the 14-year-old daughter of Mike and Patty Fromm. She
will be a freshman at Union County High School. She was a member of the
Academic Hall of Fame at Union County Middle School for maintaining a 4.0
throughout her middle school years. She was selected 4 years for KY
All-District  and 2 years for KY All-State Chorus.  She has performed on
WPSD's Easter Seals "Telethon of the Stars", and this will be Chelsea's 5th
year as a performer at Kentucky Opry's "Stars of Tomorrow" shows. Last year,
she was a finalist in Coca-Cola's annual talent competition in Louisviile at
the KY State Fair. She was a state finalst in the Kentucky Colgate Country
Showdown, being the youngest competitor there. She was also given the honor
to sing for Governor Fletcher at a press conference. In 2004, Chelsea was
given the honor to open for country music artist Brad Paisley. Chelsea has
also sang at numerous local and tri-state events, festivals and fundraisers.

Jamie Nattier

Jamie lives on a farm in Patoka, Illinois. He attends Patoka High School
where he will graduate in May 2008. Jamie is a songwriter, singer, and plays
the guitar. Jamie plays with several different bands around his hometown. He
plays at dances, festivals, outdoor events, weddings, area oprys and at
churches. Jamie is active in 4-H and FFA. He is a member of the NSAI
(Nashville Songwriters Association International) and the Illinois Country
Music Association. Jamie enjoys working on the farm, horseback riding,
hanging out with family and friends, writing songs and performing.


Christin Michael

Christin is a 15-year-old sophomore from Morganfield,Ky. She is a 4.0 honor student and in the Academic Hall of Fame. This is her third year with Stars of Tomorrow.  She loves anything to do with music.  Christin has seven years piano, three years of guitar lessons with Clay, plays the flute, and is learning to play the upright bass.  She wants to do it all!!  She sings all three parts harmony and is currently working with her younger sister, Nikole, in a sister's duet. Christin loves performing at the Kentucky Opry and making new friends there.  She sings at Downtown Alive after Five in Morganfield, sang with the Henderson Community Chorus, auditioned and made Kentucky All-State Chorus for the last three years, Kentucky All-District Chorus for four years, and sings in the choir at church.  Last summer she was selected to perform at the National Agriculture Convention in Cincinnati, OH for their annual Talent Revue.  She is currently organizing a 'talent fest' in Union County to raise money for a local girl in need of a liver transplant.

 

                                                    Carson McKee

Carson is an 8-year-old fiddler and a 2nd grader at Symsonia Elementary in Symsonia, KY.  She started taking Suzuki violin lessons at age 3 and began picking out bluegrass  tunes on her own at age 6 after sitting in on some of her granddad and his friend’s old-time music sessions.  She loves playing with Clay Campbell and his band and is excited about being part of the “Stars of Tomorrow” and performing for the crowd at the Kentucky Opry.  Carson also likes to sing, play softball, and spend time with her brothers, Connor and Clint, and her cat Nike.

Paul Derek Jolley

I am 17 years old, home schooled graduating in 2008, this is my 5th year to participate in the “Stars of Tomorrow” show! It is a great opportunity to be a part of! I have released my first CD this year titled “Between The Lines” Now for sale! I am an accomplished Singer/Songwriter! I have performed on many stages including festivals, fundraisers, relay for life, contests, and weddings! 2007 Opening for Aaron Tippin and recently opened for Chely Wright also! My most proudest moment is going to Honduras for mission work! I spent two weeks over there, what a life changing experience for me!

 

                                                Samantha Thornton

Samantha is a 17 year old from Columbia, Tennessee.  She is a junior at Columbia Central High School.  Samantha currently has a 4.0 GPA in the honors program.   Samantha loves to sing and play guitar.  She has written several of her own songs. Sam enjoys competing in talent/beauty pageants.  She was chosen as best talent in the 2006 Miss Teen Tennessee pageant and is Miss Teen Columbia.   She sings with her church and school choir.  She is active in her Baptist church youth organization.  She played varsity soccer for her high school.  She has stared in several plays including “Tom Sawyer” “Music Man” and “Grease”.  She helps support the Kids on Stage foundation, helping children find their place in the arts. 

                                                 Lauren Smethwick

Lauren, age 10, is from Palmersville TN. Lauren truly enjoys performing on stage and entertaining. She has been singing for two years and playing guitar for one year. This is her first summer to perform in the the Stars of Tomorrow Show. Lauren was proud to be named a Semi Finalist in her first year in the KY Opry Talent Search. This spring, Lauren was the junior winner in the TN Iris Festival Talent Show and the Weakley County Idol Contest. She was also a Top 5 finalist in the Froggyland Idol, Jr. Contest. She attends Dresden Middle School where she is a member of the Beta Club and the Pep Club. Lauren's hobbies are playing softball, riding dirt bikes, drawing, and learning to cook.

Madison Lane

Madison is a 10 year old 5th grader at Reidland Elementary School. At school she is a member of the academic & leadership team and president of her class. She is also in the gifted and talented program for academics and vocal. She has sung at the Kentucky opry for 5 yrs, and is enjoying her 2nd year in the Stars of Tomorrow show. Madison is very active in softball,basketball, and piano. She enjoys singing, swimming,reading and playing with the family

golden retriever, "Shadow".

 

Morgan Family

The Morgans are a family consisting of three brothers and a sister. The Morgans enjoy playing gospel and bluegrass music.  The Morgan Family are homeschooled by their parents.  Joshua has played the piano since he was four years old, then picked up the violin and mandolin a couple of years ago.  He has won several competitions in both piano and fiddle.  Recently, Joshua got to play in an impromtu concert with several music greats including:  Union Station members  Dan Tyminsky, Bryon Sutton, and Jerry Douglas, as well as Casey Dreissen and Bela Fleck.   Nicholas, age 11, has played the guitar for about two years.  He has already won a few competitions with the most recent being 1st place in the Wabash River Bluegrass Festival guitar contest.  Nicholas is the rhythm that keeps the group together. Nicholas has also played the piano for 3 years.   Elijah, age 9,  has played the banjo for about 1 year.  Most recently, Elijah placed third in the banjo competition at the Wabash River Bluegrass Festival.  He has also recently started playing the piano.    Alyssa, age 5, started violin lessons about 9 months ago.  She is also known to belt out a gospel number every now and then.  She, also, has recently started piano lessons.

 

Courtney Walker

My name is Courntey Walker and I am twelve years old. I'm from Grand Rivers, Ky.    My parents are Randy and Pam Walker. I have an older sister named Keri, who attends Murray State University. I've been singing and playing my guitar for about 4 and a half years. This will be my third summer in the Stars of Tomorrow Show. I've really enjoyed being able to play with the band and perform for the audience. I've also been able to meet a lot of people and make new friends.     When I'm not playing and singing, I enjoy playing basketball, softball, and playing with my Jack Russell Terrier named Snicker.

 

MaKayla Keene

MaKayla Keene is the 13-year-old sixth grader at Hickman County Elementary School, and an active member of New Harmony Baptist Church in Clinton. She has been taking guitar and voice since she was 7 years old. MaKayla is a member of the school choir called “The Falconaires”. She enjoys singing at nursing homes, church singings, revivals, benefit singings, and banquets.
 This past summer, she won the Beginner Division at the Hardin Talent Contest and the Wickliffe Harvest Festival. Last year MaKayla made her first CD called “Grandpa”. Whenever she is not singing, she enjoys being with her family, friends, playing basketball, and helping out on the family farm.

Jalyn Walls

Jalyn Walls is 12 years old.  She attends sixth grade at Dawson Springs Independent Schools.  She loves to sing and is taking guitar lessons.  She has been taking voice lessons for approximately two years.  In addition to singing, she also enjoys playing softball and riding her horse Patriot.  She loves to be on stage performing.  She was asked to sing at the Freedom Fest in 2004 in front of Sara Evans, Jimmy Wayhne, and John Anderson.  She loves it.  She has participated in the Stars show the last three years. Jalyn was the winner of the beginner division in the Opry talent search 2006/2007.

 

Madison Johnson

16 year old Madison Johnson is from Calvert City , KY and attends Marshall County High School. She enjoys singing, playing her guitar, soccer, swimming

and spending time with her boyfirend.

 

Tate Cooper

Tate, age 10, is Madison's (above) little brother. Tate just loves to entertain and make people laugh. He also plays guitar, soccer, basketball and swimming.

 

Katie Calvert

Katie, age 13, simply loves music.  She plays fiddle and sings.  Katie sings Alto, Soprano, Tenor, Harmonies and Lead.  She enjoys sing solo as well as with a Trio including Aaron-Jesy Keys and Christin Michael.  Although she has only playedand sang in competitions for under a year, she has already won talent shows in both categories.  Recently she was overall grand prizewinner in the Paducah Labor Day Talent Show.  She was a member of the Stars of Tomorrow this past summer as well as a member of the Strings Group at the Kentucky Opry. Currently she is involved in an ensemble group at Murray State University.

 

Christie Phelps

Hi! I'm Christi and I'm 6 years old.  My family has played music my "entire" life. 

 When I was 2 1/2, I made my singing debut at my Papa's church by helping the family sing Rhonda Vincent's "Where the Angels Sing".  I was only suppose to help sing on the chorus, but decided to sing all of it.  I started entering talent contests at 3 and began learning the fiddle at 4.  I placed 3rd in the Beginner Fiddle division at the 2006 Official Indiana State Picking & Fiddling Championships.  I am very grateful to Clay & Barbie for allowing me the opportunity to be on the Stars of Tomorrow show. When I'm not playing music, I also enjoy spending time with my family and friends, going to church, reading, swimming, T-ball, and playing with my hamster "Princess".

Tion Phipps

Tion is a 14 year old  honor student at South Hopkins Middle School, who enjoys singing, dancing, acting and skateboarding.  Tion has auditioned for Star Search and America's Most Talented Kids recieving callbacks, and won various talent competitions for singing and dancing.  He has competed nationally at the AMTC Millie Lewis Talent Convention placing 3rd in commercials, and in the top 15 in modeling and talent.  Currently, his projects include lead role starring Aladdin, in the Broadway Musical Theatrical Production  of Aladdin Jr. at the Glema Mahr Fine Arts Center of Hopkins County, followed by a summer trip to L.A. to work with talent manager/developer Lola Blanks (Space Jam Movie) of LHB Management to pursue possible respresentation.
